Aminoquelant-Ca, Calcium and Amino Acids
After much work research and development, BIOIBERICA S.A. has created a new product to correct deficiencies in calcium: AMINOQUELANT-Ca
AMINOQUELANT-Ca contains as active ingredients: calcium, boron plus an enzymatic hydrolysate in which there are present free L-α-amino acids with high complex power.
AMINOQUELANT-Ca has been tested with great success on apple, tomato, lettuce and strawberry crops, not only in Spain but also in other countries where BIOIBERICA S.A. distributes Terra-Sorb.
Calcium is considered a macro element because of its high contents in the plant. Along with boron, it is the only nutrient that exerts its function mostly outside of the plant cell.
Its action as inter molecular link, happens mostly in cell walls and plasmatic membranes. Basically, it produces structural functions, such as strengthening of the cell wall, and that of control of the permeability of the membrane. In the vacuoles, calcium can be found precipitated, in the form of oxalate and calcium phosphates. Soluble calcium is mostly associated with organic anions (organic acids, amino acids, etc.)
Mobility from cell to cell, as well as in the phloem, is very low. Lack of calcium is characterized by a reduction in the growth of meristematic tissues. Affected tissues become soft because of the dissolution of cellular walls.
AMINOQUELANT-Ca may be applied via root systems and spraying of the leaves to correct and prevent necrosis of young sprouts, blossom end rot in tomatoes and peppers, tip-burn in lettuce and strawberry or bitter-pit in apples. In addition to this, AMINOQUELANT-Ca is useful for correcting sodic and saline-sodic soils by adding active calcium to the complex, thus reducing the percentage of interchangeable sodium.
