Increase on potential yield in sugarcane by application of a new source of bioavailable silicon

The efficiency of a new technology for providing to sugarcane bioavailable Silicon was evaluated in two commercial areas Ameca and Autlán located in Jalisco (Mexico), using a design of divided plots and control without application of Si. Two foliar applications of the new formulation were performed in stage of tillering between 30-45 days. In each experiment different measurements were made to determine the influence of the potential yield of the crop: leaf area, plant height, sprouting (number of stems by linear meter) (30 days), number of stems to grind at the 90 days after the second application. At the end a foliar chromatographic analysis for different nutritional elements was made, mainly to know silicon levels among others elements as potassium, boron, zinc, sodium and nitrogen. The results shows that it was possible eliminate the Silicon deficiency using this bioavailable source and dose of10 m L-1 in two applications before sprouting. An increase in production until 20 - 32% was obtained with addition of this formulation on two commercial areas. It is recommended to continue evaluating this special product about its effects on the roots density, number of stem for grinding and sugar concentration.
