The fight against powdery mildew
Armurox™ is a unique product with a double action mechanism-it creates a physical barrier, and activates the plant’s own defense mechanisms.
This formulation combines the strengthening effect of peptides with the protective effect of silicon, does not leave a residue, and is an excellent tool to be used in environmentally-friendly, integrated agriculture strategies.
The use of Armurox™ improves the absorption and accumulation of higher amounts of silicon in the cuticle, which increases the thickness of the plant’s protective barrier. Furthermore, Armurox™ plays an active role in inducing the plant’s defensive answer, promoting the synthesis of phytoalexins and RP proteins.
The field trial below compared the efficacy of Armurox™ for the control of this disease with that of the standard treatments.
Field trial data
Place: Palos de la Frontera (Huelva, Spain)
Crop: strawberry, cv. Candonga
Plot: 60,000 plants/ha
Experimental Design
Block design plots, at random, with three applications. Basic Plot: 12 m2. Armurox™ was applied at 500 Ml/hl in five foliar applications (A, B, C, D, and E) at 7- to 30-day intervals.
Parameters being analyzed
Incidence of powdery mildew at different times after the application of the first treatment with Armurox™ in comparison with control plots (untreated plots or subjected to the standard treatment).
Results
Conclusions
The use of Armurox™ had a comparable efficacy to that of the standard treatment used against powdery mildew, thus proving that a treatment without fungicides or sulphur dioxide has similar efficiency.
Furthermore, Armurox™ was equally efficient in the control of grey mould (Botrytis cinerea), achieving a lower incidence of this fungus.
