Bioiberica’s Plant Physiology Division hosts the visit of a delegation of Mexican Congresspersons and experts interested in ecological methods to fight the fruit fly

A Mexican delegation composed of 22 persons from different backgrounds visited Catalonia and Spain on May 20-30, 2011, invited by Bioiberica’ Plant Physiology Division.

The delegation included the Mexican congresspersons which are members of the Special Commission for Citrus cultivation, the president and some leading members of the Sistema Producto Cítricos, the president and some members of CEDEFRUIT (Centre for Fruit Production and Development in the Humid Tropical areas), and the members of the Produce Veracruz Foundation, a technology transfer centre.

This tour organized by Bioiberica’s Plant Physiology Division, allowed the Mexican delegation to have first hand knowledge of the Spanish productive system using Cera Trap, the liquid attractant which uses the mass trapping technique to fight the fruit fly. Another of the objectives of the commission was to know how it works the commercialization process of fruit and vegetable products oriented to the exportation of different fruit species, specially that of citric products.
